Meet London-based startup Exactly.ai who has raised $4.3 million in seed funding to empower artists through AI, aiming to help them retain legal ownership of their work and reproduce designs more efficiently. Led by Speedinvest and supported by InReach Ventures, Cornerstone VC, GuruDev Capital, and several angel investors, the funding will support Exactly.ai’s mission to integrate generative AI into the creative process.

Founded in 2022 by Tonia Samsonova, a former journalist who successfully exited a Q&A platform to Yandex, Exactly.ai seeks to address the challenges faced by visual artists in the digital age. The startup platform enables artists and illustrators to train AI models on their artwork, generating images in their unique style while retaining ownership of the algorithms and outputs. This allows artists to scale their artwork for commercial purposes, catering to clients such as media outlets and advertising agencies.

With the global generative AI market projected to reach $668 billion by 2030, Exactly.ai aims to carve out a niche within this burgeoning sector. The platform already boasts 40,000 registered users, many of whom have uploaded millions of images, providing valuable training data to refine the AI models. This data is complemented by over a million pieces of open art data from museums, all licensed under CC0.

Exactly.ai differentiates itself from competitors like Upwork and Fiverr by offering artists a subscription-based service that enhances their ability to meet commercial demand and significantly increase their income. The company’s technology, built on a combination of Picsart’s foundational model and its proprietary algorithms, understands and replicates individual artistic styles.

Julian Blessin, a partner at Speedinvest, has notably praised Exactly.ai as a groundbreaking advancement for the creative arts sector, highlighting the platform’s potential to revolutionize how artists integrate generative AI into their workflows. The new funding infusion will enable Exactly.ai to continue developing its platform, ultimately helping artists leverage AI to expand their creative and commercial opportunities.
