Meet Collaborative Robotics, an innovative tech startup who is taking a different approach to robotics by prioritizing “human problem-solving” over humanoid forms. While humanoids often grab headlines, their efficacy and scalability remain unproven. Instead, Collaborative Robotics, founded by Brad Porter, focuses on machines that can reason like humans and collaborate with them effectively.

Despite being only two years old, the tech startup has been quietly working on its system, which is neither humanoid nor a mobile manipulator mounted to an autonomous mobile robot (AMR). This unique approach has already led to deployments in select sites, marking significant milestones for the startup.

With a recent $100 million Series B funding round led by General Catalyst and including Bison Ventures, Industry Ventures, and Lux Capital, Collaborative Robotics is well-positioned to expand further. This investment brings the total funding to $140 million, enabling the company to accelerate its development and deployment efforts.

Collaborative Robotics boasts a team with extensive experience from companies like Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, NASA, and Waymo, as well as Amazon, where Porter led the industrial robotics team for over 13 years. Leveraging AI, the company aims to enhance “human problem-solving” capabilities while moving away from humanoid designs to reduce deployment costs.

By focusing on collaboration between humans and robots and eschewing traditional humanoid forms, Collaborative Robotics aims to usher in a new era of robotics that prioritizes effectiveness and scalability. With its innovative approach and strong backing, the company is poised to make a significant impact in various industries.
